Before you travel
Passports - All passengers must be in possession of a valid passport and/or any necessary visas.Visas are not necessary for holders of UK passports.
Travel Documents - Please check your travel documents carefully before you travel.
Insurance - All passengers must have adequate personal travel insurance. Fjord Line can arrange holiday insurance if required.
Disabled Passengers - Any passengers requiring assistance at the port should notify us before departure.
Pets - We do not carry pets.
Motorist Documents - Vehicle Registration Documents and full UK driving licence must be carried at all times. If you are not the registered owner of the vehicle you should have written authority.
Insurance - UK insurance provides minimum cover in Norway.To secure the fullest cover available you should obtain an insurance ‘Green Card’ from your insurer. It should be endorsed for a caravan or trailer if applicable.
Departure from Newcastle - International Ferry Terminal is situated approximately 8 miles east of Newcastle at North Shields. Passengers approaching Newcastle from the west should follow signs for the ‘city’ and then signs for the ‘coast’, which will lead them onto the A1058. Signs showing the direction to the quay are clearly marked with a when one approaches the city. Passengers arriving from the north or south should head for the Tyne Tunnel (A19) roundabout (north of the river) and follow the same signs as mentioned above.The Tyne Tunnel can be extremely busy and extra time should be allowed. A toll is payable.
Car Parking - There is secure car parking at the quay, payment is by cheque or cash only. Reservations are not necessary. Telephone 0191 293 6263 voice mail only.
Foot Passengers - The nearest British Rail Station is Newcastle Central Station from where bus number 327 departs 21/2 hours and 11/2 hours before sailing time.Taxicabs are also available.

Check in Procedures
Foot Passengers - Should present themselves to the Fjord Line check-in desk inside the International Ferry Terminal for check-in no later than 1 hour before the scheduled sailing time.
Car Passengers - Should present themselves to the Fjord Line vehicle check-in booths for check-in no later than 1 1/2 hours before the scheduled sailing time. Failure to report in time may result in vehicles being refused passage or being carried to an alternative port from booked.
It is imperative that vehicles do not exceed the booked height and length, which includes any items carried on the roof of vehicles and caravans with skylights and other attachments.
Cars are driven on/off.Accompanying passengers must remain in the car until arrival on board/ashore. Leave the vehicle in gear with the handbrake on.Take whatever luggage you require for the voyage, as there is no access to the car deck after the ship has sailed. Smoking is strictly forbidden on the car deck. Petrol tanks should be no more than 3/4 full.
Fuel containers are not permitted.
Calor gas may be taken in caravans. No more than two cylinders per caravan provided they are stored in the designated place by the caravan manufacturer and no more than 13kg total weight.The main inlet gas valve for caravans and dormobiles must be closed during voyage.
Oxygen cylinders used for diving must be empty.

For all Passengers - Passport control takes place in the terminal ashore in all ports. Conveyance of baggage and personal effects is at owner’s risk, passengers are responsible for their own transfer of baggage in all ports.
All tickets are issued in accordance with our booking, cancellation and alteration terms.
All passengers leaving the ship are kindly requested to vacate their cabins 2 hours before arrival during the summer sailing period to allow for cleaning for the return sailing. Luggage may be left in your cabin at your own risk as cabin doors will be left open during cleaning.
Driving in Norway - An approved GB sticker must be displayed on the back of the vehicle, and black adhesive headlight stickers/beam reflectors are required, so as not to dazzle oncoming traffic.These can be purchased at check-in.
A red warning triangle is mandatory in case of breakdown. Seatbelts must be worn by the driver and all passengers.
Drink/Drive Laws in Norway are strict. If driving it is recommended that you abstain from alcohol altogether - the limit is no more than 0.2% alcohol.
Speed limits are in force throughout Norway, and penalties can be severe, so drivers are strongly recommended to comply with all traffic regulations.
It is recommended that suitable winter tyres or snow chains be used where necessary. Snow chains can be rented from Snowchains Europroducts
A toll is charged upon entry into Bergen city from your resort.
On Board MS Fjord Norway
Cabin Information - your cabin number is shown on your boarding card, staff will direct you to your cabin location.
All cabins have sh/wc.Towels and soap are provided. Electricity supply is 220v with a European two-pin socket. Keys are located inside the cabin.
Ship’s Time - Ship’s time is the same as in Norway, which is 1 hour ahead of UK time.
Information Desk - Is on deck 6 and staffed 24 hours a day. A daily programme of events is displayed here, and there is also an exchange bureau, opening times are advertised.
Passenger Information Meeting - A meeting is held for passengers, providing details of on board activities, instructions for arrival, details of access to the ship for passengers with an overnight on board in Bergen, and return check-in details. Timings will be announced and shown on the daily programme of events.
Payment on Board - You may use Sterling, Norwegian Krone, credit cards, personal cheques, with a cheque guarantee card. Cash cannot be given against debit cards.
Restaurants - There are extensive dining options available on board, from a light snack to a gourmet meal.
A discount is available for buffet meals prepaid in advance of travel. Prepaid meal vouchers are issued at check-in, to be presented to the restaurant on entering. Lost or unused vouchers cannot be replaced or refunded. Table reservations are to be made on board.
Stay on Board Facility - A stay on board facility is available for scheduled late arrivals into port. This must be booked prior to travel. Vouchers will be issued at check-in, to be presented to the information desk before arrival in port.
Mini Cruise Passengers - Cabins will be serviced during your Mini Cruise. Should you require additional towels please inform the information desk.
Please ensure you take your passport and travel documents with you at all times as you will need these for check-in for the return sailing. Luggage and other personal items may be left in your cabins.
On arrival in Bergen all passengers must go ashore. Latest check-in for the return sailing to Newcastle is 15 minutes before departure time.
Inclusive Tour Passengers
Vouchers for stay on board should be presented to the information desk before arrival in Bergen.Vouchers for accommodation should be presented to the hotel or chalet upon arrival.
Transport vouchers for internal ferries, where included in the cost of an inclusive holiday, are issued at special rates and conditions are not transferable, vouchers are not refundable if you choose to vary your route.The vouchers should be presented at the relevant ferry.
